What a MESS!

Do you recognize this space? Does it look Familiar?
Time for a bit of honesty.
Ladies I spend countless dollars on all the latest greatest organizational gadgets; and yet this is what it looks like when I am stamping.
Where are those organizational tools? Let me tell you. They are on my desk keeping it organized so I can find everything.
But ... I don't stamp at my desk! I stamp in the dining room so I can watch my kids, and be near the computer for posting. So what I am wondering; am I the only odd bird out there, or are you and me birds of a feather?
Just so you know, I am currently rushing around putting everything back in its place so we can using the dining table for its real intent on the weekend! LOL

Green and Blue

Do you now just LOVE how fresh green and blue look together? They always look natural, fresh, clean and spring like. I am super happy playing with these colours. I live in these colours, in fact my entire house is decorated in shades of blue and green.

I made this card to play along with Sketches{by Tamara}.
http://sketchesbytamara.blogspot.com/2009/02/card-sketch-84.html I have just recently found this challenge blog and it has a wide variety of challenges daily. If you enjoy challenges you should hop on over and give it a try too!

The Flourish is painful, it was hand cut off a piece of MME paper. It took forever. But I think it was worth it, I really like how it turned out. The flower is also another sheet of MME, and this is 3 layers of flowers fut out, layered with pop dots, and then stickles to finish the look. While this is not your average quick card, it is easy. it just takes time to do the cutting.

Snip some paper tonight, you may find you enjoy fine detailed work too!

KW Colour inspiration #43

I have been super inspired this month by the use of buttons! So many people have been using buttons in so many creative ways. I have really enjoyed digging them out and playing with them. I like the feel of buttons, they are smooth, and yet have ridges and texture, oh BUTTONS are WONDERFUL!
I have a large collection handed down by my grandma; unfortunately I am not ready to use those ones, yet! LOL
However, I do have a good collection that I have collected on my own from my sewing days.
Have you got a button collection too? If so why not pull them out and start using them! They are beautiful and add lovely dimension to a card. For more inspiration and gorgeous buttons hop on over to PTI, they have an incredible collection of buttons.
I hope you have a great day!

Spring is in the Air - FEB PTI Blog Hop

Today my crocuses actually bloomed. No longer are their tiny heads of colour peeping from beneath the earth. Instead, those little buds have matured into lovely blooms in full GLORY! How sweet it is to know that spring is just around the corner. And with that, I spent the day cleaning and doing laundry! LOL

Have you got signs of spring in your neck of the woods too? Or have you managed to start your Spring cleaning? I don't want to hear about those of you who are finished Spring Cleaning! Haa Haa Ha!

I made this card to do double play.
PTI Blog Hop, as well as, Sketches! {by Tamara}. http://sketchesbytamara.blogspot.com/2009/02/recipe-challenge-37.html
You too can play along.

It is a real easy one, flowers, buttons and glitter!

I thought that the sparkles on the flowers gave a real "morning dew" look to the flowers. What do you think? It was very difficult to achieve a good photo; that showed the sparkles, so forgive the shadows!

I hope you enjoy the hop my friends, thanks for stopping by!

Friends

Friends are the glue that hold me together. I tell my friends thoughts and feelings that I would not share with anyone else. I share the good and the bad days with my friends. My friends never judge me, and are always there for me. Without my friends I would be in deep need of therapy! LOL
I saw this sketch over at MOJO Monday- The Blog. http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/
I couldn't decide how I was going to approach all those layers. So I decided to pick my sentiment first. This is an opposite approach for me, I normally make a card and then decide what it should say based on what it looks like. So once I decided it was going to be for a dear friend who has helped me out a lot lately, I decided to go with bright cheery paper.
I hope you like how it turned out as much as I do.
Call a friend today and let them know how much they mean to you!

Triple Play

Today is a rainy day, and in my house that means it is a stamping kind-a-day! HURRAY!
So I was doing a whole lot of blog hopping. Today I was looking for challenges to work with the scraps all over my dining room table! Why clean up, when you can use up! LOL
So I found 3 different challenges:
Then I combined them into 1 Delicious card. I was not in the mood for a traditional tag, so I cut a rectangle tore the edges, and punched a hole in it. Finally I added charms and hemp twine. Still a tag by my estimation.
Don't you just love blue and brown together? So calming and soothing, makes me think of the beach.
I hope your day is filled with Inspiration, and a little stamping!

A little Thank-YOU

I don't know about you, but I am constantly battling with masculine cards. In particular, ones for tweens and in betweens. So I got this super cute footballer stamp from Elzybells to try to make some cards to fit this category.
For the first card, I liked how the floral patterned paper compliments the image. However, I thought this seems a wee tad feminine.
Since this is wonderful double sided designer paper; I just flipped it over and moved the layout a bit. What do you think? Would these not make darling Thank-yous; for gifts my daughter receives at her birthday, from her male friends?

CPS104

My Anniversary is this week. And I thought last night when I went to a stamp party I had best make my dear hubs a card. Well, 5 hours later I had no card for the hubs! However, I did manage to eat 2 pieces of apple pie, 12 crakers and cheese, 20 chips and 7 layer dip {MMmmm},and drink 3 glasses of champagne! LOL
No wonder I didn't get any work done!
I just enjoyed being with the girls and teaching them some new tricks. So perhaps, not productive but enjoyable still. I find that I can only stamp on my own, my creative juices don't flow in a group setting. Do you have the same dilemma?

Any who... so when I saw the sketch today I thought this is my chance! So I took it and ran with it. I have been working with distressing papers this week so I thought I would give the card a worn look. I am uncertain if this is the card I will give my hubs. What do you think?

Friday Sketch with Amy #50

Ok girls I have struggled with drawing backgrounds. I try, but what can I say, I am NO artist! I think that is why I stamp and don't draw; for my hobby.
So this is a sketch by AmyR. I have never played with her sketches. But she really seems to love layers and this one is no exception. So OK not bad for a first attempt, right?

Now if only there was camera challenges! I need to learn how to take a photo!

I

I don't know about you; but often I find it very difficult to make time for myself. This may mean that I don't find the time in my day to even take a shower, or wash my clothes. When your a mother you innately put everyone in your home before yourself. I have lately been trying to change this. Because honestly girls, we all know that unhappy mum is an unhappy home! LOL

So part of my time, is finding a chance to stamp. And at the mo, the best way for me to force myself to do this; is to do challenges on other blogs. So if you are like me Stamp Simply challenges are for you. http://notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2009/02/19/stamp-simply-75-black-ink-only/

These are easy challenges that are geared just to you and me; who can't find the time to stamp. Make the time! Spend less time looking at others' beautiful work, and more time doing your own stamping! Enough said! LOL

For this challenge stop colouring and STAMP SIMPLY! Just get out your black ink and play!

KW Colour inspiration #42

I made this card as part of a set for my BFF. She lives in Hawaii so I thought I had best give her some that would work for males, and tweens.
I think this card did the job, simple yet fun and young. What do you think?
I find it very hard to make cards for tweens and teens do you also? Have you got any hints for me? Where do you get your inspiration from?

Today was a sad day for me; because my BFF and her family went back home to Kona. As always it was so lovely to visit with them, but time went much too quickly.

I hope you take time to appreciate all you have today, drink in every wonderful moment each day!

Spring Fever CPS103

I don't know about you but whenever Valentines is over I start thinking Spring. Perhaps, it is all the wonderful new displays in the retail stores. Maybe, it is the green tips of the daffodils popping up. Or more likely, it is just that I am tired of winter; but any way you slice it Spring is on my mind.
When I saw the card sketch this week at CPS http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/, I thought I am gonna make a fresh spring card to go with this gorgeous day.
So I pulled out some of my Fave American craft paper and the inspiration for a simple card just popped up!
I hope you too have a chance to play with this weeks card sketch. It is an easy one and so much fun to play with all the layers.

Dawns Colour Challenge PTI

OK ladies this is a quickie! I just couldn't resist dropping everything to do Dawns colour challenge! And when I say everything; I mean everything! I am about to have my husbands family and my BFF family over for Valentine celebrations. I spent the entire day going to all the local market gathering all the bits to make an authentic, home cooked Mexican meal. And my Mexi pal who was to help me today is sick! So here I am making beans from scratch, salsa, tostadas, soup, and salad. UGH, I know your tummies are thinking MMMMMMMMMM!

I won't go on any further because you are here to see paper crafts not listen to my belly aching. Elzybells Challenge #13

I don't know about you but I find a real challenge is something that you don't normally do; and pushes you in a completely new direction.
This fortnights challenge over at Elzybells did just that. To do a challenge of a single layer is real difficult. Originally I tired shading around the image with distress ink, didn't work for me. Next I tried drawing in a simple background; and admittedly I am no artist, so again this did not turn out.
Finally, I just tried colouring with my COPICS. Wouldn't you know it was the simplest one that I was most satisfied with. After I coloured the image in I wanted to add some dimension, so I added just a wee bit of Crystal Effects on the vase, and tea cups! I really like how it added just the tiniest something special to the card.
(If you click on the image you can enlarge it for a closer look)
I hope you find time to take up this challenge too!

Some times in making cards and in life things are better simplified!

KW Colour Inspiration #41

I found this challenge difficult. Did you too?
I don't usually work with these colours at all. I find Black to be great for patterns or backgrounds, but difficult to make a card with; and why choose the easy path, I took the path less traveled.
I do love red, it is such a fun "moody" colour. I feel fairly happy with the results although I had to sneak a little more colour in when I coloured the "Love Shack".
It reminds me of my house, full of Love but honestly a bit of a shack!
Hope you all have a little Love in your Shack tonight! ~wink~

Today Sharon challenged us to try using Negative images. You can try this technique with either punches, or with die cuts, sush as "spellbinders".
For this card I used a circle punch.
Now did you notice the ribbon is in the middle looking like a belt? Well this was on purpose because if I eat chocolate it goes straigh to my gutt and my butt! LOL

Kristina's Colour Inspiration #40

What a fun colour collection this is. I never tire of looking at gorgeous ribbons, fabric or of course paper!

I am currently on an incredibly tight budget. And well, to put it quite simply; I am hating it. Budget and stamping don't go well together, at least that is how I find it. I never seem to run out of a {Wish List}; and that works the exact same way for shoes. Perhaps it is because they are always changing styles and colours, or perhaps it is because both always fit and never require a diet! LOL What do you think?
Since I am totally craving all the great new sandals that are in the shops I thought I would just stamp myself an entire collection on this card, and dream that they were all in my closet! LOL

It's all in the Ingredients:
Card stock - PTI white
Ribbon - teal satin - Essential Packaging
Stamps - shoe - Amuse, senti - Inkadinkadoo
Ink- tuxedo black -Memento
Copics - BG18,YG97,YG91,Y21,YR23,R20

May there be New shoes in my life and yours again soon!

It's all in the giving

My BFF is the most giving and wonderful friend a girl could ever ask for.
She has me and my entire crew, yes even the twins EVERY year for weeks on end.

And every time we go see her in Hawaii it is over a holiday. More often then not it has been Valentines; because it is close to my anniversary so we like to go back to the beach we got married on that day.... hmmmm seems to long ago almost 8 years!
When I go she has the house decked out, and makes wonderful thoughtful things for each of my children.

She also buys each one a thoughtful basket of things they might use on the vacation, sun screan, nappie cream, wipes, floaties for the pool etc. So here I am Valentines looming over my head and this year we are not in Hawaii, we are here and she is coming to my house!
First I went to Target and bought everything in sight. Then I came home and realized that I did not need to spend $200 on V-day decorations. I needed to make her family feel as welcome and as special as we feel in her home. And all this needs to be done on a modest budget.
So I ended up making her 3 dozen cards!

Ingredients for the card above the paper, PTI white,DP is MME, ink - choco chip SU!, stamps- flourish SU!, monogram - JustRite(Brayton font), scallop circle punch SU!,

And then i made a whole lot of paper decorations with my daughter to decorate the house.

And for her wonderful kids I made them each a special valentine with i-tune cards in it. I am sure her teens would appreciate that much more then the $40 build a bears I had almost bought them.
So be mindful, it is the thought that counts when giving, not the price or the amount spent!
Lesson learnt!

Shades of Pink

I am loving soft shades of pink this week. I am in a quieter frame of mind; therefore the usual bright and vibrant colours are not as appealing to me. Colour seems to really affect me, does it affect you too?

When I am calm I like to work with soft , subtle and calming colours. When I am full of it like I usually am, the brighter and bolder the better. Colours that say bring it on, that is usually what appeals to me.
So enjoy this softer side of me while it lasts, cuz it surely will not last long; especially after last night.

As many of you know, my eldest daughter is in French immersion. Here in BC, this is considered a choice program. The school my daughter attends is 2 track, which in essence means there is English classes, and then there are French classes. Well, unfortunately there is not an equal split. The French out way the English 3:1. And in some of the English classes there are as little as only 4 kids in a grade. As you can imagine this is not a healthy environment for the English students and there was a huge school meeting last night to look at proposals to try to fix this.
None of the plans will please all of the parents, and there was a lot of angry and fearful parents getting out of control. I came home really upset. I feel terrible for the English students I truly do. I want to protect my daughters education and her rights, but not at the expense of others. It is a real tragic dilema for the entire school.
So, I calmed myself down with a little stamping and some calming colours. Now tonight the meeting is continued so don't be surprised if the next card is FIRE ENGINE RED!

Wishing you a calm day!

Simple Birthday

Birthdays are never really simple. They are very complex in nature. Birthdays bring up feelings about our age that we never even knew we had. They bring to the fore front some of our deepest feelings and fears about growing older. And because I always get worked up about my birthday, I thought I would make a sincere effort to try to simplify. The first step for me is to make cards for others that are simpler. I tend to try to go over the top in most things and then have to accept that I can only do half as much as I wanted. So this time I went to a basic card layout, a simple sentiment, and even simple paper. I can't help myelf I had to add a little Martha butterfly, and of course some amuse bling to that. But really in essence this is a simple card, and it demonstrates how I would like my life to be; clean, simple, with a touch of bling!
I am pleased with how it turned out, and I hope that my simple approach to things will last more then a day! LOL
Pair down and simplify just one thing today, perhaps your day too will be smoother!

Simple Changes

Isn't it fun how a small change can make such a big difference? For instance some days you are feeling BLAH, and you put on some lipstick and new shoes and suddenly things seem brighter?

This is how I feel about cards, small changes can make all the difference. All I did to change this card is to use a different punch, card stock, ribbon and sentiment and yet it has a completely different feel to it. Ok, maybe I am kidding myself, I changed everything but the layout and the designer paper!

I love the SU! sentiment Dream big. It is such a happy thought, and something we all need to do a little more.

Remember to never stop dreaming, it keeps us young, happy and helps us to reach goals we otherwise would never have had.

I hope you too find time to dream a little today!

Just how many shoes are too many?

I love this shoe paper. I have had it for quite a while, mainly because I bought so much of it. LOL I got it at a dollar store in a pack of 5 matching papers.
This week I had an idea that I would make some cards for my dear friend Bobbi. She is here from Hawaii to ski with her family and to visit me. I am so excited to see her as it has been an entire year since we last saw each other.

The shoe image is amuse and is one of my faves, and the sentiment in side could not be cuter. Just how many shoes are too many? How is that for a laugh? You can never put a number to that question!

Hope you all have new shoes in your future!
