Elzybells Challenge #8

Have you ever bought a piece of paper and just could not cut it to save your life? Nobody could possibly be worthy of this gorgeous piece of paper!

Well for this project I had just the piece of paper. I bought it last year and could not cut it, I was saving it for>>> who knows. That was until this challenge.

The numbered paper is a 12x12 piece by Making Memories, at the top of each number I slit them with a knife, and then carefully glued all the way around each square outline. I mounted this onto a piece of picture board 12x16. At the bottom, I put a 4" strip of sage paper, then layered ontop a piece of red patterned paper. I then added the Elzybell sleigh, stamped in brillance, Graphite Black. This was coloured with COPICS, and then run face down into my Xyron, to put the adhesive on the coloured side. I then dipped the image in warm highlight ultra fine glitter. It is so sparkly and lovely in real life. Hard to tell from the picture.

Days Until (wasabi green SU), and Christmas (red poppy PTI), were both stamped using JustRite Trompe, and Brayton fonts.

Punches, large Marvey snowflake, and MS snowflake layered on top. These snowflakes are both the decrative in the bottom left, as well as used for the date marker on the lower right.

The date marker, was 2 large snowflakes punched out with a paper clip sandwhiched in between and glued with tombow. Then glittered and the 2 MS snowflake added on top.
The date marker is moved from one date to another simply by putting the paper clip into the slots I made with my knife at the beginning of the process.

It is such a cute and fun project for kids to use to help count how many sleeps until Santa comes! wink!
Have a Merry and Bright Day!

Back in the Saddle

Well after finally finding my long lost camera I have finally found time to download a card. It has been a very busy month. Pateley turned 6, and the twins turned 1. And I have gone back to work part time after having 18 months off. I am still on leave for another 6 months but I do get some short term contract work which is what I am currently doing.

Bare with me while for the rest of the summer, as cards will be few and far between. I hope you enjoy this one.

Enjoy the best the season has to offer wherever you are.

Beate's Be Inspired Challenge #14

Well it is Wednesday and here on the West coast we coming out of the rain into a lovely long stretch of SUN! I can hardly believe it after the long and strange spring and winter we have endured.

So I am a day late but here is my card. Having troubles with my camera so the colours on this picture are not at all what it looks like IRL. And further more you can not even see the Versa Mark stamping I did on it. However, when I figure out the edit features I will post a better picture. Until then here it is, as is sort a speak! LOL!
The card itself is for my grandma who has lost her voice, and is under the weather. The paper I got this weekend and LOVE, love, love it!

Beate's Be Inspired Challenge #13

Beate has done it again. she has come up with a lovely inspiration photo.
http://beate.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2008/05/13/be-inspired-challenge-13/
My interataion of the bed picture; well, I took it quite literally as I used it for my layout. Now my card looks like an elegant bed, or at least it does to me! LOL!
I made this card with my friend Cathy in mind. She like myself always likes to run into her hotel room and jump onto the bed. It is a ritual that says WE ARE HERE! And of course lets you let out a bit of that excitement that your holiday is beginning.
For all of you beginning a holiday this week, jump on a freshly made bed and be a kid again!

Wet Tuesday

I was so moved today when reading another stampers' blog. She is a wonderful pillar of strength, and she is going through the hardest of times, yet she still with cluttered brain and heavy heart managed to do a very clear entry to help others. Her strength inspired me to look to the positive in life.
I am going make a list of 10 happy thoughts and post them in my studio. Which at the mo is my dining table! LOL! Lets all take a mo to reflect on what is good in our lives so that the hardships of the world around us does not bring us down. This rain is wet and cold, but it keeps the air clean, the plants growing, the water flowing from our taps, our food growing, the rivers flowing, ...

My challenge to each of you is to take the next negative thing in your life and turn it around, find the sun on a cloudy day!
I made this card for my Grandma for Mothers Day. It simply says Happy, and this is what I wish for everyone a moment of peace and tranquility.

Hurray for Monday!

I hope everyone had a great Weekend. It was Mothers Day in Canada and we celebrated by spending the day cleaning house, and then visiting with an out of town friends. Cleaning, well it bit, however; what was important was our family was together and we were lucky enough to see our friends . My eldest daughter gave me a lovely flower pot and card she had made at school which I will treasure forever.
And I made this thank you as an example of a quick easy card. Sometimes a simple card is the best way to highlight your sentiments. I love the summer colours!

Cheers to Monday and a somewhat cleaner house!

So very Thursday

So who was up all night thinking about stamping?
Yes, that's right, I was so excited to stamp loads of ideas rushing through my brain, that I could not sleep! And those babies bless their hearts they slept all night without a peep. Too bad my timing could not have been better. Well my restless night lead me to the ink and paper and voilla- the fruit of my wears! I created this card for my SIL, she's expecting baby number 2, and we are all so excited!
The front of this card I stamped the dots in rose, then stamped the ring dots in pom., then stamped she's all that in close to cocoa, and then put crystal effects on her. You can not tell from this photo very well but the pom rings show through onto her dress like a pretty patterned gown. I absolutely love how it turned out.
Happy Thoughts,
Rieca

Beate's be Inspired Cahllenge #11

I just want to send a big shout out to all the SCS members who have brought back the passion for stamping in me. I thought once I had the twins I would be overwhelmed and never find my way back to ink and paper! Thankfully, I happened across the SCS website; now my inspiration is back. On the days where the nights are long, and the days seem to roll on forever, I look at SCS to just have a moment of sanity. I may not stamp on those days but I get great joy out of seeing others works of art.
Today for the first time I was able to take part in Beate's be Inspired Challenge. I love the fresh spring colours of the polka dots on the Kate Spade card; this was my jumping off point. I love how the card turned out, and hope you do too! If you too want to be inspired check out Beate's card; as well as, the rest of the design team cards. http://beate.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2008/04/29/be-inspired-challenge-11/

Happy Monday!

At long last, between diapers and 5 year old temper tantrums; I have managed to get a few cards made. This is a simple card, made by a fried mummy brain. I am sure you all have days like this too. The great thing is I still got something done even if it was not the laundry! LOL
I hope you enjoy your day!
